COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland softball conceded its series against Illinois with a 4-0 loss in a rubber match at Maryland Softball Stadium on Sunday.
The Terps (17-19, 4-5 B1G) trailed by four runs after the Illini (15-20, 2-6 B1G) hit two two-run home runs in the second and third innings. Maryland had opportunities with runners on base but couldn't capitalize. Pitchers Lauren Wiles and Tori McQueen combined for a shutout.
Courtney Wyche provided a strong outing in the circle. She pitched her 13th complete game of the season, which is a season-best for the fifth-year pitcher. Wyche struck out 10 batters and allowed just five hits.
