Three Terps Collect IWLCA All-American Honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Meghan Ball, Eloise Clevenger and Emily Sterling collected IWLCA All-American honors, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Thursday.
 
Ball was selected to the First Team while Clevenger and Sterling were named to the Third Team. This is the 15th straight year that Maryland has had at least three All-Americans. 

Meghan Ball anchored the Maryland defense that held an impressive 14 opponents to single digit goals this season. The Terps finished with the sixth best scoring defense in the nation at 8.32. Ball led the Terps in caused turnovers (40) and ground balls (37) throughout the entire season. Her 40 caused turnovers are tied for seventh-most in a single season in program history. The Raritan, New Jersey native, was a pivotal part of the draw that saw a 62 percent win rate, the fifth-best in the country. She held the team's second-most draws with 77. Ball was a Tewaaraton Nominee, First Team All-Big Ten selection and earned a Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor once. This is the third IWLCA All-America honor of Ball's career and first First Team selection. 

Eloise Clevenger facilitated the Maryland attack, leading the team in points (84) and assists (52), while standing eleventh in the nation and second in the Big Ten in assists per game. She led the Terps in points in 11 of the 20 games she played, highlighted by her eight against Robert Morris in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The senior sits fourth all-time in both career assists (131) and single-season assists (52) in program history. Clevenger was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection for the second consecutive year. This is her second IWLCA All-America honor, after earning Third Team in 2023.

Emily Sterling was tremendous in the cage for the Terps, averaging the fourth-best save percentage in the nation at .530. She finished first in the Big Ten in saves per game with 9.40. Sterling posted eight games with at least 10 saves and has held opponents under ten goals, an impressive 13 times. She was the backbone of the Maryland defense averaging only 8.72 goals-against, the second least in the Big Ten. The Bel Air, Maryland native, secured her spot in record books with 670 saves, the fourth-most in program history. The graduate senior was a Tewaaraton Nominee, Big Ten Medal of Honor Recipient and Second Team All-Big Ten selection. This is Sterling's second IWLCA All-America honor, after earning First Team recognition in 2022. 

The Terps have had 191 All-Americans in program history.
 
In total, the IWLCA honored 48 student-athletes from around the country with All-America honors. There are 16 honorees per team.
