Maryland Earns 34th Consecutive Bid To NCAA Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, MDMaryland women's lacrosse earns its 34th straight bid to the NCAA Tournament, as announced on Sunday evening.

Maryland earned the four-seed and will host the first and second round. The Terps will host Robert Morris on Friday, May 10 at 12 p.m. in the first ever meeting between the two teams. The other side of the region will see Penn State and James Madison, both regular season opponents for Maryland. The winners of each contest will face each other in the second round on Sunday, May 12.

The Terps 34 consecutive appearances (1990-2023, minus 2020 due to COVID-19) is also the longest in the country. Maryland has made the final four 12 times under head coach Cathy Reese (2009-19) and has won four of the last nine national championships (2014, 15, 17, 19). 

First and second round games begin on Friday and Sunday, May 10 and 12, respectively. The quarterfinals follow on Thursday, May 16. Championship Weekend will take place in Cary, North Carolina at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Final Four games take place on May 24, followed by the championship on May 26.
