Nemzer Announces 2024 Women's Soccer Slate

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland women's soccer head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer announced the 2024 schedule on Tuesday. Like in past seasons, the Terrapins will be tested against some of the best teams in the country as they will face six teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

The Terps will play nine games in the friendly confines of Ludwig Field, highlighted by matches against Michigan State, Nebraska, and Penn State. The Terps will also host two of the conference's newest members, as Washington and Oregon come to College Park in 2024.

The Terps begin the season with notable non-conference match-ups. The Terps open the season on Aug. 15 when they travel to Bethlehem, PA to take on Lehigh, as the two programs meet for just the second time with the last match taking place back in 2007.

Maryland then returns home for a trio of home games, beginning with its home opener against Stony Brook on Aug. 18 (1 PM). The Terps next welcome American on Aug. 22 (7 PM), as the two programs face off for the second consecutive season. The Terps close out their three-game home stand as they welcome James Madison to College Park on Aug. 25 (5 PM).

After their three-game home set, the Terps continue its non-conference schedule with three-straight games away from home. The Terps first make the short jaunt to Annapolis to face Navy on Aug. 29 (7 PM). The Terps next open the month of September with a meeting at George Mason on Sept. 1 (6 PM). The Terps then close out their three-game road swing as they travel for a match against Towson Sept. 5 (6 PM). The Terps then close out the non-conference of their 2024 schedule as they host VCU on Sept. 8 (1 PM).

Maryland opens conference play at home, as they welcome Michigan to Ludwig Field on Sept. 12 (7 PM). This begins a streak of three consecutive games at home to begin the conference schedule. The Terps then hosts two of the Big Ten's new west coast members, as they host Washington on Sept. 19 (7 PM) before hosting Oregon on Sept. 22 (1 PM).

After its three game home set to begin Big Ten action, Maryland hits the road for three games. First, Maryland makes its way just outside of the Windy City with a match at Northwestern on Sept. 26. The Terrapins then stay in the Prairie State, as they march over to Champaign to face Illinois on Sept. 29 (1 PM). Maryland then begins the month of October with its final road game of the set, as they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Oct. 4 (7 PM).

The Terps return home for their final two home conference matches of the regular season, first hosting Penn State on Oct. 10 (7 PM). The Terps then face Nebraska at home on Oct. 13 (1 PM) for its final home match of the regular season. The Terps close out the 2024 season with three conference games away from Maryland. The Terps make a two game trip to the Midwest, with match-ups against Minnesota on Oct. 17 (8 PM) and Wisconsin on Oct. 20 (1 PM). The Terps then return to the east coast for its regular season finale with a road contest against Rutgers on Oct. 27 (1 PM).

The Terps are coming off a promising 2023 season. The Terps had six shutouts last season, which was the most for the program since the 2014 season. Maryland won three consecutive games before the start of conference play last season, which was the first time since 2017 that it won three-straight games before heading into Big Ten play.
