Eight Terps Garner Athlon Sports Preseason All-Big Ten Recognition

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Eight Maryland football players have been named to Athlon Sports' preseason All-Big Ten teams, the organization announced today, June 25.

The group was headlined by three Second-Team Selections in WR Tai Felton, LB Ruben Hyppolite II and KR Braeden Wisloski

Felton, a 2023 Third-Team All-Big Ten selection, started all 13 games at wide receiver last season and led the team with six receiving touchdowns to go along with 48 receptions and 723 receiving yards. His 15.1 average yards per catch last season was good for fifth in the Big Ten.

Hyppolite has been a mainstay of the Terrapin defense since 2020 and is back for a fifth season in 2024. The 2023 Third-Team All-Big Ten selection finished second on the team in tackles last season with 66 (47 solo) to go along with 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup.

As a true freshman in 2023, Wisloski burst onto the scene with his big-play kick return ability, highlighted by a 98-yard touchdown against Virginia, the first Maryland kickoff return for a touchdown since 2019. In total, Wisloski returned 16 kickoffs for 380 yards and finished third in the Big Ten in kickoff return average (23.8) en route to a 2023 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten season.

WR Kaden Prather and RB Roman Hemby were the Terps' two other offensive selections.

Prather was named to Athlon Sports' Third-Team coming off his first season in College Park where he tallied 42 receptions, 666 yards and five touchdowns. The Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection led the team and ranked fourth in the conference with 15.9 average yards per catch.

Hemby, a Fourth-Team selection, finished the 2023 campaign with 142 rushes for 680 yards and four touchdowns. The versatile running back also added 38 receptions for 349 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Hemby earned All-Big Ten honors in 2022 when he finished third among all FBS freshman in yards from scrimmage (1,287).

On the defensive side of the ball, DL Jordan Phillips, LB Donnell Brown and DB Dante Trader Jr. all were named to the Fourth-Team.

Phillips made a big mark in his first season at Maryland, appearing in all 13 games with 10 starts and totaling 28 tackles (14 solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Brown, who enters the 2024 season ranked as the fourth-highest returning edge rusher in the conference by PFF, tallied 29 total tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery in 2023.

After starting every game he's played in for the past two seasons, Trader Jr. enters his senior season as one of the most experienced defensive backs in the league. In 2023, he finished third on the team with 58 tackles and added two interceptions and seven pass breakups.
