Seven Terps Selected To Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist

TAMPA, FL – Seven Maryland football players were named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list, which consists of the best 1,000 players throughout all of college football who are currently all-star game eligible for the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl and the 2025 NFL Draft class.

Defensive lineman Tommy Akingbesote, wide receiver Tai Felton, running back Roman Hemby, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, defensive back Glendon Miller, wide receiver Kaden Prather and defensive back Dante Trader Jr. were all named to the list.

Last year, four Terps participated in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl in offensive lineman Gottlieb Ayedze, defensive back Ja'Quan Sheppard, defensive back Tarheeb Still and quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. Still was eventually selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Akingbesote has played in 32 games across three seasons on the defensive line. He has 45 career tackles, three sacks and three tackles for loss.

Felton, a 2023 Third-Team All-Big Ten selection, has totaled 76 receptions for 1,083 yards and eight touchdowns across 34 career games played. He started all 13 games last season and led the team with six receiving touchdowns. His 15.1 average yards per catch in 2023 was good for fifth in the Big Ten.

Hemby earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors in both 2023 and in 2022, when he finished third among all FBS freshmen in yards from scrimmage (1,287). The redshirt junior has 347 career carries for 1,740 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. A versatile back, Hemby also has 72 career receptions for 648 yards and four scores.

Miller has played in 36 games across four seasons in College Park, tallying 61 total tackles, nine passes defended and four interceptions. All four of Miller's interceptions came in the 2023 season, highlighted by a 44-yard pick six against Auburn in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.

Prather made an immediate impact in his first season in College Park, finishing with 42 receptions, 666 receiving yards and five touchdowns. The 2023 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection led the team and ranked fourth in the Big Ten by averaging 15.9 yards per reception.

Trader Jr. has started every game he's played for the past two seasons. In 2023, he finished third on the team with 58 tackles and added two interceptions and seven pass breakups. For his career, Trader Jr. has 131 tackles and four interceptions.

The 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl will take place on Jan. 30, 2025 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.
