COLLEGE PARK, MD -- We're back with another update on how our Terps are doing this summer. Some players have had some major performances with their prospective clubs since our previous update at the plate and on the mound.
New England Collegiate Baseball League
CHRIS HACOPIAN, MARTHA'S VINEYARD SHARKS
Hacopian has been on a great run offensively for Martha's Vineyard since our last update. Hacopian is second on the team with a .375 average and is tied for the team lead in home runs with four and RBI with 20. Hacopian's .360 batting average is tied for the tenth-best in the NECBL, while his 20 RBI are the fourth-most in the league. Hacopian had a spectacular performance in Martha's Vineyard's 9-7 win over Ocean State where he went 3-5 with a home run and four RBI. Hacopian capped his strong week by being the NECBL's Player of the Week.
BRAYDEN MARTIN, MARTHA'S VINEYARD SHARKS
Martin has continued to be a contributor in the Sharks lineup. In Martin's 20 games played for the Sharks, Martin is hitting for a .233 average and three RBI. Martin has been showcasing his speed in the NECBL, as his 14 stolen bases on the season are the third-most in the league.
ALEX CALARCO, KEENE SWAMPBATS
Calarco has been consistently producing for Keene this summer, as he is hitting for a .234 average three home runs and 14 RBI. Calarco's three home runs are tied for the fourth-most for the SwampBats and his 14 RBI are the fifth-most on the squad. Calarco hit his third home run of the campaign on July 8 in Keene's 8-5 win over Vermont.
RYAN VAN BUREN, KEENE SWAMPBATS
Van Buren has made five starts for the SwampBats this summer, posting a 1-1 record with 15 strikeouts in 21.0 innings. Van Buren's five starts are the most for the SwampBats this summer, while his 21 innings on the mound lead the group. Van Buren had a quality start back on June 1 against Sanford, throwing 4.1 innings with four strikeouts and just one run allowed.
ELIJAH LAMBROS, NORTH ADAMS STEEPLECATS
Lambros has been showing off the power stroke for North Adams this season. Lambros has five home runs on the season to pair with ten RBI. His five home runs are tied for the team lead and are also tied for the fifth-most in the NECBL. Lambros had a big game in North Adams' 9-5 win over Sanford back on June 26, going 3-4 at the plate and launching a pair of home runs.
MICHAEL IANNAZZO, DANBURY WESTERNERS
Iannazzo has not only been one of the hotter hitters in the Danbury lineup, but also one of the hotter hitters in the NECBL. Iannazzo currently holds a .375 batting average, which ranks as the sixth-best batting average this summer. To pair with the .375 average, Iannazzo has six doubles, a home run, 12 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. Iannazzo joins his Terps teammate
Brayden Martin in the top five in the league in stolen bases, with his 12 currently sitting as the fourth-most in the NECBL.
JACOB ORR, DANBURY WESTERNERS
Orr got his first start for Danbury in its season-opener on June 4 against the Bristol Blues, starting the game in right field. That unfortunately has been the only action for Orr this summer, as an injury has sidelined him for most of the season.
ANDREW JOHNSON, DANBURY WESTERNERS
Johnson continues to be one of the top options out of the pen for the Westerners this summer. To this point in the season, Johnson has made seven appearances, pitching to a 2-0 record with a 2.63 ERA and one save. Johnson's two wins are tied for the most for Danbury this season and his 2.63 ERA is the third-best on the squad. Johnson picked up his first win of the season back on June 25, throwing three innings of three hit, no run baseball with three strikeouts.
APPALACHIAN LEAGUE
DUKE MCCARRON, KINGSPORT AXMEN
McCarron has made nine appearances for the Axmen this season, pitching to a 2-0 record with 15 strikeouts across 10.0 innings. McCarron's two wins for the Axmen are tied for the most on the team, while his nine appearances are the third most for the squad.
Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League
JORDAN CROSLAND, BETHESDA BIG TRAIN
Crosland has been a consistent contributor for the Bethesda Big Train this summer. Crosland is hitting for a .255 average, with three doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI, and a team leading 10 stolen bases. Crosland's 17 RBI are currently the fourth-most for the Big Train this season.
EVAN SMITH, BETHESDA BIG TRAIN
Smith has made six appearances and six starts for the Big Train this summer. Smith has struck out 24 batters in 20 innings of work and has only walked four batters. Smith got the start for Bethesda in their 7-1 win over the D.C. Grays on June 5, throwing four innings with eight strikeouts and just two hits allowed.
EJ HANKERSON, ALEXANDRIA ACES
Hankerson has played in 14 games for the Alexandria Aces, who lead the South Division of the Ripken League with a 19-10 record.. Hankerson had a strong day at the plate for the Aces on June 27, going 2-3, with a double and an RBI in a 21-13 win. This season, Hankerson has two doubles, a triple, and two RBI.
