College Park, MD -- Maryland field hockey players Josie Hollamon, Hope Rose and Emma DeBerdine have been named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
 
Hollamon enters her sophomore season with the Terps after a stellar freshman season. She is a member of the 2023 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team. She was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (10/2/23) and appeared in all 23 games, starting each one. Hollamon recorded nearly 1,200 minutes of action on the back line. 

Rose is a four-time selection to this preseason list and continues to be a consistent asset for Maryland. She is a three-time All-American and earned All-Big Ten First Team honors last season.  Rose is a member of the 2022-2023 USA U-21 Women's National Team. The following year, Rose led the Terps in points with 28 from 13 goals and two assists. 

DeBerdine, a two-time All-American, spent her undergraduate career as a Terp with plans to return to College Park and use her remaining year of eligibility for the 2024 season. 

The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native, started in 75 of the 76 games she played in, tallying 69 points from 23 goals and 23 assists. DeBerdine has multiple accolades during her undergraduate career, including two NFHCA All-American honors and two All-Big Ten recognitions.The two-time All-American will return to College Park after representing the United States in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Maryland field hockey returns to action on Friday, August 30 as they face No. 7 Louisville for the first match of the season. Play begins at 6 p.m. and can be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
