COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 5 Maryland narrowly fell to No. 3 Virginia, 1-0, on Friday at the Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.

The Terps battled hard against their region rivals in Maryland's opening game as hosts of the 2024 Terrapin Invitational. The team moves to 3-2 on the season.

The game was scoreless for the first three quarters thanks to the commendable efforts of Maryland's back line, Ericka Morris-Adams, Josie Hollamon and Rayne Wright

Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko made several impressive deflections despite the result, finishing with two saves in the contest. Through five games, Klebasko has a total of 11 saves.

Maryland led Virginia in penalty corners (8-3).
