Bryce McFerson Selected To Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 For Third Straight Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Redshirt sophomore punter Bryce McFerson was named among the Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 of the Week, given to the nation's top eight punters of the week. This marked the third consecutive week McFerson made the list and he is the only player to be selected to Ray's 8 in all three weeks of the 2024 season.

McFerson shined once again for the Terps in a gutsy 27-13 win at Virginia on Saturday. The Notre Dame transfer punted six times for a 47.33 average and a long of 57. Three of the six punts were placed inside the 20-yard line. McFerson's 46.7 punting average through three games ranks eighth among FBS punters and second in the Big Ten (Purdue's Keelan Crimmins, 47.4).

Ray's 8 honors eight punters weekly who had the best punting performance over the weekend. A fan vote will determine the winner of the weekly award. Fans can vote at rayguyaward.com

The Ray Guy Award winner is selected by a voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners. Punters are evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics; net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.
