Emily Fisher smiles after game 1 in Croatia

Women's Basketball

Q&A With Emily Fisher

UMTERPS.COM SAT DOWN WITH EMILY FISHER TO GET TO KNOW HER ON AND OFF THE COURT

Q: What made you start playing basketball?

EF: My old soccer teammate, her dad started a basketball team when we were in third grade, and I did it just for fun. Had no experience. My family's not a basketball family, so I had no idea what I'm doing. I was terrible at first, but that's pretty much how it started, and we're here today, so obviously, improvements.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

EF: I wouldn't say there's one person. I'd say both my parents. They both came from not a lot, and they both have given me so much and more just by working and putting in all the hours, even if that means less time at home, it's just getting us the best life possible.

Q: What has been the most memorable experience of your career so far?

EF: Probably playing Iowa, just because of the atmosphere. Another experience was just being in the game and getting an and-one, because it felt great, obviously, with all my teammates. But
yeah, I'm excited for this year, though, for more.

Q: What are your pre-game rituals?

EF: Well, this year, I'm starting to do different hairstyles every game, which I didn't do last year. And then I have to, like, listen to Kevin Gates in my car, like, before when I'm driving over, or my headphones, yeah, Kevin Gates, or, like, Chris Brown, both of those.

Q: What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

EF: If you're gonna do something, do it at 100%. Otherwise, there's no point in doing it.

Q: What's your intended major and dream job?

EF: Well, I'm switching majors right now. I was a psychology major. I'm going be a real estate major, which isn't usually a major, but I'll be doing that and then minoring in business. I don't specifically know what I want to do, but if I'm good at this, then I hope it takes me there. Hopefully, I will have my own brokerage, but that's far into the future.

Q: What makes you proud to be a Terp?

EF: I think being a Terp represents a lot, but the most valuable part for me is the family that we all have here. I don't think there's one person that would say that they feel left out, ever. We're all here together all the time, talking to each other, loving each other. We always say we love love, because we all love each other.

Q: What was your favorite part of the Croatia trip?

EF: Definitely the boat. I love, personally, being in the sun every day. Me and Saylor love the sun, and it was a great experience. I don't get seasick, so it was great for me.

Q: If you didn't play basketball, what sport would you play?

EF: That's easy. I used to play soccer, so I quit going into my junior in high school. I played as a center forward, preferred midfield, yeah, I love soccer. Still always do miss it.

Q: If you brought a friend to Maryland, where would you take them to eat?.

EF: I want to say, like, something simple, like Roots. I don't have any specific places to go to. Otherwise, if it's in DC, and I go there enough.

Q: If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would they be?

EF: My dog, my old dog. He was a pug. I would say Justin Bieber, and then Kim Kardashian, because she's a genius.

Q: If your sport had a mascot based on you, what would it be?

EF: A Barbie, with lashes and nails, and blonde hair. Basically just me.
