Having already been treated to a full slate of college football this past weekend and a 50-7 thrashing of UConn courtesy of
Billy Edwards Jr. and Co. in the Terrapins season opener… our eyes shift to the National Football League.
Luckily for us in College Park, we have over 15 Terps in the NFL to watch this season!
In this edition of Terps of the NFL, we will preview our former Terps before they get onto the turf for the first time this season.
The Rookies
First, let's take a look at the Terrapins' most recent additions to the NFL.
On Tuesday, August 27,
Beau Brade officially made the Baltimore Ravens' 53-man roster. Brade, an undrafted free agent from Clarksville, MD, grew up a Ravens fan and even played for the Columbia Ravens as a kid. In 2023 with the Terrapins, Brade started all 12 games he played in and received an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Selection. He ;ed the team in tackles for the second straight season with 75 total tackles and 48 solo and ranked second on the team with six pass breakups.
Bullock signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent along with fellow Terp
Beau Brade. Bullock will head into the 2024 season on the Ravens practice squad. In 2023 for the Terps Bullock started at left guard. He received an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Selection. In 2023 he was ranked as the second-highest-rated pass-blocking guard in the Big Ten conference according to Pro Football Focus with a 79.6 grade.
Delmar Glaze was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round (77th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. In 2023 Glaze earned Third All-Big Ten Honors, starting every game for the Terps at left tackle. Glaze anchored an offensive line that blocked for the fourth-ranked overall offense in the Big Ten (387.3 ypg) and the top-ranked passing offense (278.9 passing ypg) in the league. In 2023 he was ranked as the second-highest-rated pass-blocking tackle in the Big Ten according to Pro Football Focus with an 83.1 grade.
Tarheeb Still was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. In 2023 Still earned Second All-Big Ten Honors, starting in all 10 games he played for the Terps at corner. Still tied for third nationally in interceptions per game at 0.5 and tied for sixth nationally in total interceptions with 5 on the season. Still appeared in 39 games (starting 37) for the Terps over his four seasons in College Park.
The Vets
Stefon Diggs
Stefon Diggs enters his 10th season in the NFL with a new home—the Houston Texans. Coming from Buffalo, Diggs surpassed the 1,100-plus-yard receiving mark in each of his four seasons in Buffalo, including leading the NFL with 127 catches and 1,535 yards in his first season. The former Viking helped lead the Bills to the playoffs in each of his four seasons in Buffalo as he tallied 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns in that span.
D.J. Moore
D.J, Moore had a stellar first season with the Chicago Bears after being traded there last season. In his sixth season as a pro, Moore led the Bears receiving corps in 2023 with 136 targets and set career-bests in receptions (96), receiving yards (1,364), and touchdowns (8). On July 30th, Moore signed a four-year, $110 million extension with the Bears. Moore also became the first wide receiver to have their first 10 seasons guaranteed in NFL history.
Darnell Savage
Veteran safety Darnell Savage Jr. has found a new home this summer---signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent. Savage, a first-round selection by the Packers in the 2019 NFL Draft, started 69 of 72 games in five seasons with the Packers. He has nine career interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown, and has 306 tackles – including 222 solos. He has been credited with 34 passes defensed and nine tackles for loss.
Deonte Banks
Deonte Banks enters his second season in the NFL after a strong showing his rookie season. Banks was the Giants first round selection (24th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft. Banks started all 15 games in which he played last season. Banks tallied 64 tackles (53 solo), 2 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 11 passes defensed on the season.
Chigoziem Okonkwo
Okonkwo enters his third season with the Tennessee Titans in 2024. After being named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team in 2022, Chig Okonokwo had a stellar sophomore campaign in 2023. The Powder Springs, GA native caught 54 passes for 528 yards and a touchdown while playing in 17 games, with 11 starts as a tight end.
