No. 23 Gymnastics Shatters Attendance Record Against No. 11 UCLA

COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 23 Maryland gymnastics posted a team-score of 194.850, while No. 11 UCLA scored 197.550 on Saturday at XFINITY Center before 7,287 fans. The attendance mark broke the Terps' previous program record of 2,207 against No. 5 Michigan on Feb. 7, 2015.  

Sierra Kondo led the Terps' second rotation on the uneven bars, setting a career-high and tying the program's individual record with a 9.950 dazzling routine. She tied Emma Silberman, Sanya Glauber, Audrey Barber and Tiara Wright (twice). 

Freshman Sarah Saville also boasted an impressive showing in on bars, scoring 9.875 after debuting with a 9.825 at the Lone Star Challenge on Jan. 11. As a team, the Terps scored 49.250 in the event. 

Maryland had an exceptional showing to start the meet on vault. Its top five competitors in the lineup scored 9.750 or higher, led by Natalie Martin's 9.875. Rhea LeBlanc was the second-leading scorer in the event, matching her career-best with a 9.825 mark. 

On floor, the Terps' final rotation, LeBlanc posted a team-high 9.850 score. Maryland's third rotation was on the balance beam. Madeline Komoroski, ranked No. 2 spot among gymnasts on beam in the Big Ten and No. 20 among gymnasts on beam in the NCAA, scored a 9.850 to lead all Terps. 

UCLA's Jordan Chiles, a two-time Olympian and 2024 Paris gold medalist, posted a perfect 10.000 on the uneven bars, 9.950 on floor, 9.775 on beam and 9.775 on vault to lead the Bruins.  

The Terrapins faced the Bruins once before heading into tonight's meet. UCLA placed first at the Raleigh Regional in 2022 with a score of 197.600, and Maryland placed third with a score of 196.025. The Terps are 2-3 in competition this season, while the Bruins are 4-2.
