Kaylene Smikle of the No. 8-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (14-0, 4-0 B1G) was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week Monday for her fourth career weekly honor from the league.

This week's honor includes games played between Dec. 23 and Jan. 5. The Terrapins won three games in that stretch, including two over ranked opponents. Over those three wins, Smikle averaged 19.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.7 steals, while shooting 42% from outside the arc (5-12). Smikle also went 15-for-17 from the free throw line.

Against No. 19 Michigan State on Dec. 29, Smikle led the Terps with 19 points, including 11 points in the second half to help seal the 72-66 victory. The Spartans cut the Terrapins' lead to two at 65-63 with under 2:00 to play, then Smikle responded with an and-1 play to push the lead back to five with 1:11 to go.

Against Rutgers Thursday in College Park, Smikle added 13 points and tied her career-high 5 steals in the 18-point victory.

In a tough road win at No. 23 Iowa Sunday, Smikle scored a season-high 26 points, including 12 in the second half and 9 in the fourth quarter. She went 4-5 from outside the arc and notched a career-best 6 steals. The Hawkeyes cut the Terps' lead to 5 with under 4:00 to play. Smikle responded with a three at 3:29 to make it an 8-point game, then another three with 2:09 to go to make it an 11-point lead for Maryland.

Smikle has scored in double figures in 13 straight games this season and 20 or more points in seven games.

Maryland will host No. 4 USC (14-1, 4-0) Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET at the XFINITY Center. The Terps-Trojans game will be televised on FS1.
