Jordyn Hollamon was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, and big sister
Josie Hollamon was named Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement by the conference on Monday.
Jordyn, who receives her third conference honor of the season, helped No. 12 Maryland secure the upset win over No. 10 ranked Iowa this past Friday. She scored a goal in the 43
rd minute to tie the game 1-1 in the third quarter.
The freshman from Delmar received her last conference honors on September 22. She compiled a team-best three points in Maryland's 3-1 win over No. 16 Penn State in the conference opener.
Jordyn currently leads the team with six goals, along with two assists for a total of 14 points.
Josie Hollamon picks up her first conference honors this season. She scored the game winning goal against No. 10 Iowa off a penalty corner in the 47
th minute. She also recorded her first defensive save of the year to help the Terps secure the 2-1 win over the Hawkeyes.
Josie has recorded four goals this season along with one assist.
The Hollamon's and the Maryland field hockey team host Indiana and No. 1 Northwestern this weekend in College Park. The Terps play Indiana on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by No. 1 Northwestern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
