BETHLEHEM, PA – Today,
Rose Coats qualified for her second straight NCAA Championship as she posted a top-10 finish and yet another sub-20 minute performance at this morning's NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Coats will be the first individual Terp to qualify for NCAAs in back-to-back years and this will be the first time since 2017 and 2018 that Maryland has had a runner in back-to-back NCAA meets.
Coats crossed the line first for the Terps in 7th out of 210 runners. She completed the 6k course with a time of 19 minutes and 46.1 seconds. Last year, she ran a 19:53.8 to break her previous school record, which she has broken once again this season.
Eva Rogers placed 49th (21:08.9) followed by Leonora Lynn in 98th with a time of 21 minutes, 59.3 seconds. The top five was rounded out by Lucy Scothern (100th, 22:00.2) and Ellie Keefer (107th, 22:08.7). Scothern and Keefer both improved their time on this course by 1 second and about 6 seconds, respectively.
No.7 West Virginia took the top spot for team finishes with a score of 56 as they went 1-2 in individual finishes. Second place was No.12 Georgetown at 62, followed by No.10 Penn State in third with 76. The top-5 team scores concluded with No.19 Villanova in fourth with 78 and Princeton in fifth with 99. Maryland finished 10th with a score of 345.
Up Next: Coats will participate in the NCAA Championships that will occur on November 22 in Columbia, MO.
