COLLEGE PARK, MD — A full team effort from the No. 7 Terps earned them a 91-21 win over Delaware State (3-8) and their sixth 12-0 start in the
Brenda Frese era. Maryland used a string of hefty runs and a number of breakout performances to start 9-0 at the XFINITY Center for the first time since 2020-21.
After holding Delaware State to 11 first-half points — marking the fifth time in this century that the Terps have limited an opponent to less than a dozen points in a first half — the Terps commanded the floor in the second half to limit the Hornets to 21 total points — Maryland's fewest allowed in program history.
Maryland jumped ahead early. Yarden Garzon led the charge, scoring the game's first eight points — which included a pair of threes — as Maryland opened the game on a 12-0 run. Garzon finished with a Maryland career-high 18 points as she shot 4-of-9 from three-point range.
Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu recorded her first-career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds while Kyndal Walker tied her career high with 13 points.
Maryland was in full control of the contest from start to finish. The Terps went on four different runs of 10+ points and never trailed the Hornets on Wednesday night. Their longest stretch of the night was a 29-0 run (the program's longest since a 42-0 run against Belmont in 2019) that spanned across the third and fourth quarters as Maryland held DSU scoreless for over 14 minutes.
The Terps held their opponent to single-digit scoring in all four quarters to mark the first time in program history that they haven't allowed a 10+ points in any frame of a single game. The Terps also recorded their ninth, 10th, 11th, and 12th single-digit quarters of the season.
Fresh off her career-high 25-point performance in Maryland's double-overtime thriller over Minnesota, Oluchi Okananwa tallied an 18-point, six-rebound night against the Hornets as the Terps hosted their Teddy Bear Toss Night.

Brenda's Breakdown:
- "Really, really pleased. To see us go out, coming off of a really emotionally-high game, and just to see the response in our locker room of just 40 really, really hard minutes."
- "The mentality was sensational. 40 great minutes where we went hard. I think it's great."
- "I just thought we set the tone in everything that we did."
- "I thought the leadership that we had from Kyndal and Yarden and Oluchi was really good, but the energy was there throughout the entire team."
- "I think it speaks to the sisterhood and the spirit in the locker room. That's who this team has been."
Isi's Incredible Night:
- "The coaches challenged me today to show up and lead the team. We were a few players down, so just know what the team needs from me. I know the coaches have my back, and I know what they need from me, and that makes everything a little bit easier."
Garzon's Great Game:
- "I just wanted to make a statement that we came to play. We came off an emotional game, but came in and knew that we're gonna need to play hard today, and it's another game to get better. I wanted to make a statement from the start, from the first few minutes, that we're here to play for 40 minutes together."
