Terps Lose To No. 1 Texas At Bevo Classic, 8-3

AUSTIN, TX – Maryland softball was defeated by No. 1 Texas, 8-3 in the Bevo Classic at Red and Charline McCombs Field on Saturday night. This was the second meeting between both team's after Texas defeated the Terps (4-5), 13-4, on Friday evening.

Maryland trailed early, after Texas scored seven of its eight-runs in the second inning to remain undefeated, and improve to 8-0 on the season.  

The Terps' offense came alive in the fifth inning, scoring all of its three-runs. They had two runners reach second and third base with two outs. However, Sammi Woods belted a two-run RBI single to right center driving in both runners. Woods reached home on an in-field error.
  Maryland had five different batters (Mazie MacFarlane), (Matti Benson), (Sydney Lewis), (Madison Runyan), and (Woods) record a hit. 

Breaking Down The Action
  • Texas earned the first run of the game, with a RBI triple in the first.
  • The Longhorns extended its lead to 8-0 in the second inning, behind back-to-back two-run RBI singles and a three-run homer.
  • The Terps drove in all of its runs in the fifth. Sammi Woods hit a two-run RBI single, and then reached home on error. Sam Bean reached base on a walk and Madison Runyan singled.
