BOSTON, MA – Rose Coats set her second indoor record this season as she captured the program's 3,000-meter crown on Saturday at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. In addition to Coats' performance, the Terps had four other all-time top 10 performances on the day.
 
Coats clocked a time of 9:18.23 to break the 3,000-meter record. She had set the 5,000-meter record earlier this season at the Dr. Sander Scorcher in New York. It's the third school record owned by the sophomore. She set the 6K course cross country record in the fall en route to an appearance in the NCAA Championship race.
 
Just behind Coats in 3,000 meters was Katie Turk who finished in 9:28.10 which stands third all-time in program history.
 
In the Invitational 400 meters, Sam Payne finished sixth (54.77) followed by Maya Valmon in eighth (54.88). Payne now ranks eighth all-time in the event, while Valmon's time was the ninth fastest in program history.
 
Emma Pegg moved into seventh all-time in the 800 meters as she posted a time of 2 minutes, 10.34 seconds.
 
In the 4x400 relay, Valmon, Payne and Pegg were joined by Lydia Robling to finish third with a time of 3 minutes, 42.66 seconds.
 
Two Terps were also in competition today at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite. 
 
Tolu Akinduro placed 10^th overall in the triple jump with a mark of 40-feet, 11.5 inches. She was just 0.25 inches shy of her personal-best mark which is the fourth-best jump in program history.
 
Armanie Coleman won her heat in the 200 meters with a time of 24.06 seconds – just shy of matching her program record 23.69 second performance set at the Navy Invitational this season.
 
The Terps will return to action this Friday at the Navy Select Meet at the Wesley A. Brown Fieldhouse.
