Maryland Women Lacrosse To Host 2025 Big Ten Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, Md.  –  The Maryland women lacrosse team will host the Big Ten Tournament for the upcoming 2025 season at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

The Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex completed renovations this fall, achieving a comprehensive enhancement of the facility transforming the existing 5,500 square foot facility into a 17,193 square foot team house. The facility features larger, separated locker rooms for Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse student-athletes with spacious team rooms with all-new technologies, an increased Sports Medicine room with new rehabilitative and recovery equipment, inclusive of hydrotherapy space, a signature lobby to recognize and celebrate the championships and success of both programs, a relocated fan entrance for ease of access to the complex seating areas and a second floor addition with coaching offices and meeting spaces.

Maryland is 12-4 in its Big Ten Tournament appearances and the Terps have secured the Big Ten championship four times in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2022. Since joining the league in 2014, the Terps are 79-25 (.760) against their conference opponents, including postseason play.


The last time the Terps hosted the conference tournament was in 2017. They hosted John Hopkins in the opening round, earning a, 19-16, victory. They went on to defeat Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship earn their third Big Ten tournament title in program history. Maryland would go on to defeat Boston College 16-13 in the national championship to capture the program's ninth national championship.

Head Coach Cathy Reese enters her 19th season as head coach of the Terrapins.  She has amassed an impressive 12 NCAA Championships. She ranks sixth all-time among women's lacrosse head coaches with 332 career wins, achieving milestones as the fastest coach to reach 200, 250, and 300 wins. Reese has guided Maryland to five national championships (2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), 11 Final Fours, and 20 regular-season and tournament championships across the ACC and Big Ten. She is recognized as a four-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year (2010, 2014, 2015, 2019) and a 12-time conference coach of the year. With a career winning percentage of .835, Reese has developed eight Tewaaraton Trophy winners, 22 National Players of the Year, and 64 All-Americans.
