WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Maryland baseball defeated Princeton in both of their matchups, winning the latter game, 10-7, at David F. Couch Ballpark on Saturday. The Terps improved 5-4 overall heading into its second game of the day, where it will play No. 12 Wake Forest.
Princeton (0-7) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Maryland went on to score six of the game's next seven runs. The Terps then scored four runs in the eighth to put the game away, including an
Eddie Hacopian solo home run. It was his 18th career home run and his first of the season. The Terps were led offensively by
Aden Hill,
Alex Calarco and
Colin Gibbs, who recorded multiple hits and RBIs.
Hill went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. The VCU transfer has seven RBIs in his last two games. He drove in his runs today on two separate RBI singles. Calarco continued his dominance, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs. He now has 24 RBIs through nine games, ranking first in the NCAA. Calarco also has at least one RBI in eight of nine games for the Terps this season.
In his first career start, freshman Colin Gibbs went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for his first multi-hit game.
Elijah Lambros added two RBIs, and
Liam Willson notched one as another standouts.
Omar Melendez made his second start on the mound this season. He pitched six innings, striking out five batters and surrendering three runs. Melendez earned his sixth career win for the Terps and his first of the 2025 season.
Jack Wren took the mound in the seventh. He pitched two innings, striking out three batters and surrendering just one run. Ryan Bailey made his second appearance of the season but surrendered three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Andrew Johnson came on in the ninth with one out, striking out back-to-back batters to secure the win and earn the save.

- Princeton scored one run in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double. The Terps led 10-4.
- The Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Andrew Johnson came on and got the final two outs on a pair of strikeouts to secure the win.
