COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Maryland gymnastics team travels to Washington, D.C., on Friday at 6:00 p.m. to compete against GW, Towson, and NC State. Fans can follow the action live on X (@TerpsGymnastics) and stream the meet on ESPN Plus. The Terps will then have a quick turnaround, returning home to host Towson, GW, and Yale for Senior Night on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
SETTING THE STAGE
- The GymTerps begin week three ranked No. 30 in the Road to Nationals ranking. Maryland also placed at No. 25 on vault and No. 29 on floor, looking to build upon their previous 196.150 score at the Yale Tri meet, where they also faced LIU in rotation.
- Maryland landed first among its competitors, still sealing a 196.150 win against Yale and LIU.
- Maryland will have a quick turnaround, where they will compete again against GW, Towson and Yale at home for Senior Night on Sunday at 12 p.m.
- Maryland has broken the 196 mark for the second time this year.
- Freshman Rayna Engelmayer had strong performances, sealing a career-high on beam, 9.825 and the same score on vault.
- Graduate Alexa Rothenbuescher had a season-high 9.900 uneven bars, contributing to the 49.100 event score.
- Maryland last faced Towson in a dual meet last March, securing a 196.725-196.625 win.
- Maryland also faced NC State at Temple's quad meet last year, scoring a 197.050-196.750 win.
- Senior Sierra Kondo reached a career high of 9.950 on uneven bars at the Terrapins home opener against a ranked UCLA.
- Kondo not only set a personal best but also tied the program's individual event record, cementing her place among Maryland's all-time greats.
- Maryland broke its attendance record at their home opener, drawing an incredible 7,287 fans for the highly anticipated matchup against the previously ranked No. 11 UCLA.
- Terps were ranked No. 24 in the WCGA Preseason Coaches Poll and No. 22 in the College Gym News Preseason Poll. The Terps enter the 2025 season looking to reach the NCAA Regionals for the seventh consecutive year (seven including the 2020 season, when Regionals were not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Alexa Rothenbuescher was the all-around winner at the Big Four Meet, posting a 39.175 score.
Checking out the schedule
- The Gym Terps finish out their regular season by hosting their final tri meet against Towson, GW, and Yale on Sunday, Mar.16. Post season competition begins with the Big Ten Championships on Friday, March 21 in Ann Arbor, MI. The NCAA Regional meets will take place between April 2 and 6, where Maryland hopes to improve upon their 196.350 score from 2024. The NCAA semis and finals will be held between April 17 and 19.
