PISCATAWAY, NJ – Maryland softball stole game two in its Big Ten Ten opening series against Rutgers, 4-1, at Rutgers Softball Complex on Saturday. The Terps are 11-12 heading into the rubber match tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Three of Maryland's runs came in the top of the second inning, as Mazie MacFarlane hit a three-run home run. It was her sixth career home run as a Terp and her first of the season. MacFarlane has 10 home runs in her career between her time at Utah State and Maryland.

Sydney Lewis then added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single. She drove in Matti Benson from second base. Benson was the only Terp to record multiple hits. She went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Bri Godfrey was outstanding in the circle for the Terps. She pitched her fourth career complete game and earned her seventh career win. She struck out six batters and allowed just one run on four hits.

Rutgers' (14-16) lone run was scored in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run.
