COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Maryland women's tennis team defeated No. 46 Penn State 4-0 on Sunday in College Park, bouncing back from a loss to No. 11 Ohio State with their highest-ranked win since defeating No. 29 Wisconsin in 2024.
 
The match was the Terrapins mental health awareness match. In support of Morgan's Message, both Maryland and Penn State wore green jerseys during the match. Both Penn State's and Maryland's Head Coach Katie Dougherty pledged to donate $5 for every ace.
 
Ema Kovacevic and Diya Challa got things going in the No. 1 doubles match. Competing in doubles together for the first time, the two Terps cruised to a 6-2 win.
 
Kallista Liu and Danielle Hack kept things going for the Terrapins. After going back and forth early in the No. 2 doubles match, Liu and Hack pulled away, winning 6-3.
 
Oliwia Orlinska and Tamari Gagoshidze led in the No. 3 doubles match when the doubles point was clinched.
 
The Terrapins had a strong start in singles, sweeping the first set of every match.
 
Tamari Gagoshidze got Maryland's first singles point of the match,, winning the No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-1.
 
Oliwia Orlinska quickly followed, taking the No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-0.
 
Ema Kovacevic took a hard-fought first set, winning 7-5 in the No. 2 singles match. In the second set, Kovaecvic once again was in a back-and-forth battle, eventually winning 6-4 to clinch the 4-0 match victory for Maryland.
 
In the No. 1 singles match Kallista Liu took the first set 6-3. The match was clinched during the second set.
 
Diya Challa put out a stellar effort in the No. 6 singles match. After trailing 3-0 in the first set, Challa came roaring back to win the set 6-4. Challa was in a hard-fought second set when the match was clinched.
 
Danielle Hack won the first set of the No. 3 singles match 6-3. The match was clinched during the second set.
