COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland baseball belted five home runs in its seven-inning 22-11 win over Northwestern in the series finale at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The 22 runs scored were a program record for a Big Ten game, surpassing its 20 runs scored against Nebraska on May 7, 2023. Maryland improved to 14-14 and 3-6 in Big Ten play.
Four of Maryland's five home runs occurred in the first three innings. They were major contributors to the Terps scoring 12 runs through the first three.
Alex Calarco hit two, and
Eddie Hacopian and
Hollis Porter each hit one in just the first three innings. Porter later joined Calarco as Terps to hit multiple HRs in the game. The Terps have four games this season where they have hit four or more home runs in a game as a team.
Porter, who's swinging a hot bat, went a career-best 5-for-6 with six RBIs and four runs. He crushed a two-run home run in the third and a three-run homer in the sixth. He has the 12th home run of the season, giving him seven home runs over his last nine games. He also hit a RBI double. Porter is the first Terps to post a five-hit game since Matt Woods also recorded five hits against Nebraska on May 3, 2023.
Calarco went 2-for-2 with five RBIs and five runs against his former team. He hit a two-run and three-run and homer, occurring in the first and second innings, respectively. The senior now has 13 home runs this season and 47 RBIs. He leads Maryland in both categories. Overall, Calarco has 21 home runs in his career, with 17 as a Terp and four as a Wildcat. This was also his second multi-HR game this season.
Hacopian went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs. He smashed a three-run homer in the third. It was the senior's third homer run of the season and the 20th of his career.
Other Terps to drive in a run were Jacob Orr (two RBI double), Liam Willson (two RBI double), Aden Hill (RBI double) and Chris Hacopian (RBI groundout). Lambros finished the game with multiple hits, going 2-for-3.
Jake Yeager started on the mound for Maryland and earned his second win of the season. The freshman pitched 4.1 innings, holding Northwestern batters to eight hits and six runs.

Andrew Johnson closed out the final two innings of the game.
The Terps outhit the Wildcats (12-13, 5-4 Big Ten) 16-14. They also drew 15 walks while limiting Northwestern to just two walks.

- The Terps added five runs in the sixth to regain its double-digit lead. Porter hit his second homer of the game with a three-run shot to right field.
- The Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-run HR, but the game ended early due to a run rule. The Terps won 22-11.
