COLLEGE PARK, MDÂ --Â Maryland will hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia to face-off against No.13 James Madison (4-1) on Saturday, March 8, at noon at Sentara Park.

Where We've Been
- The Terrapins are 3-1 on the young season. After dropping its season opener to then-No. 6 Syracuse (15-9, Feb. 15), Maryland responded with three straight wins over Georgetown (9-7, Feb. 18) Saint Joseph's (18-7, Feb. 22)Â and Denver (14-10, Mar. 1).
- Junior Kori Edmondson is the catalyst for the Terrapins offense and leads the team with 15 points and 12 goals on the season. Grad student Chrissy Thomas leads the team with 11 assists which is fifth in the Big Ten. Defensively, the Terps are anchored by captains Kennedy Major and Neve O'Ferrall.Â
Series history vs. James Madison
- This marks the 43rd meeting between Maryland and James Madison. The Terps have historically controlled the series, leading 38-5 over the past 45 years. The two teams first met in 1980, with Maryland earning a 15-7 victory.
- Maryland dominated the first 21 years of the matchup, winning 24 consecutive games. James Madison claimed its first win over the Terps in 2002 with an 11-10 home victory.
- Kori Edmondson, Chrissy Thomas, and Lauren LaPointe are the only current Terps who recorded a goal against JMU last season. In 2024, Edmondson led Maryland with four goals in a 17-7 victory over the Dukes in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Thomas contributed one goal and three assists in the win.

- James Madison is off to a strong start in 2025, holding a 4-1 record after securing a ranked victory over No. 5 Florida, 17-16. In all four wins this season, JMU has scored at least 11 goals per game.
- Offensively, Madison Epke leads the way for the Dukes, leading the team in goals (16) and assists (7). She also leads the conference in goals per game, averaging 3.2. On Tuesday, Epke was named the IWLCA Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Against Richmond, she recorded one goal, two assists, and 15 draw controls. She followed up with a standout performance against Florida, tallying four goals on five shots, two assists, and 18 draw controls. Both draw control totals marked season highs for Epke, who ranks first in the conference and second in the nation in draw controls per game (11.2). Additionally, she is tied for 44th nationally in goals per game (3.2) and tied for 35th in points per game (4.6). Epke has recorded 10 or more draw wins in three games this season and surpassed 300 career draw controls with her performance against Florida.
- In goal, Caitlin Boden anchors the Dukes' defense. She ranks 18th all-time in saves and save percentage in JMU history and was named to the AAC Second Team All-Conference last season.
JJ Suriano, who has a .400 save percentage is ranked sixth in the Big Ten this season.

Chrissy Thomas had two assists and two goals this past weekend to help Maryland defeat Denver 14-10.

- On February 14, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced the 2025 IWLCA Hall of Fame, which included Maryland head coach Cathy Reese.
- Reese has guided Maryland to five national championships (2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), 11 Final Fours, and 20 regular-season and tournament championships across the ACC and Big Ten. She is recognized as a four-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year (2010, 2014, 2015, 2019) and a 12-time conference coach of the year.
- Reese joins former Maryland head coaches Cindy Timchal (Class of 2017) and Suzanne Tyler (Class of 2018) in the IWLCA Hall of Fame.
