Big Ten Releases Pre-Seeds For 2025 Conference Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Pre-seeds for the 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championships in Evanston, IL were announced by the league office today. The Terps have five wrestlers seeded in the top-nine, highlighted by Ethen Miller as the No. 1 seed and Braxton Brown as the No. 3 seed. Miller is the first No. 1 seed at the Big Ten Tournament in program history.
The complete tournament brackets and official seeds will be released Friday afternoon following the Big Ten Conference coaches meeting.
Leading the way for the Terps is top-seeded Ethen Miller. Miller finished in fourth place at 149 pounds at last year's Big Ten Championships. He is 20-0 this season competing at 157 pounds.
Braxton Brown (#3 at 133), Kal Miller (#8 at 149) and Jaxon Smith (#5 at 184) are also making their third consecutive Big Ten Championships appearance. Smith has earned top-four finishes in each of his previous trips while Brown finished in sixth last season. Kal Miller won the ninth-place bracket to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships in 2023.
Ninth-seeded Seth Nevills will make his third Big Ten Championships appearance overall. Freshmen Dario Lemus and Branson John, both seeded No. 12, will be two of four Terps making their conference tournament debuts.
The conference championship gets underway Saturday, March 8 at Northwestern's Welsh Ryan Arena in Evanston, IL and will run through Sunday, March 9.
All 14 conference schools will participate in the championships with the first-round, quarterfinal, semifinal and wrestleback matches taking place during Sessions I and II Saturday. Action continues Sunday with consolation semifinals and seventh-place matches getting underway during Session III and the first-, third- and fifth-place matches highlighting Session IV.
The Big Ten Network and B1G+ will offer live linear and streaming coverage of all four sessions at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships. Linear coverage on the Big Ten Network is also available on the FOX Sports app.
