Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Edmondson, Lockdown Defense Leads No. 8 Terps Past No. 13 JMU, 11-5

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Led by Kori Edmondson's three goals and a lockdown defense, No. 8 Maryland women's lacrosse downed No. 13 JMU, 11-5, at Sentara Park on Saturday. The road win victory snapped the Dukes' 19-game home win streak that dated back to 2022. The Terps improved to 4-1 this season, picking up their first win over a ranked team.

The Terps began the game with five unanswered goals while holding James Madison (4-2) scoreless for 16:41, including the entire first quarter. The Dukes didn't get off their first shot on goal until there were 51 seconds left in the first quarter, as the Terps had already rattled off seven on goal. The fast start was their key to victory, and they never trailed at any point in the contest.

The Terps' defense dominated throughout the contest, preventing James Madison from scoring any goals in the first and third quarters. The Dukes turned the ball over 16 times, and the Terps were credited with causing eight of them. Maryland held Tewaaraton Award watch list nominee Maddie Epke to only one goal.

Edmondson delivered a first half-hat trick to earn her fourth hat trick of the season and 21st overall in her career. She's 7-of-8 in free-position opportunities and leads the Terps with 15 goals overall this season.

Devin Livingston recorded her first career multi-point game, scoring one goal and one assist.

Kate Sites (two goals and one assist), Shelby Sullivan (
two goals), Jordyn Lipkin (one goal and one assist) and Maisy Clevenger (one goal and one assist) also had multi-point games. Chrissy Thomas scored the remaining Terps goal in the contest.

JJ Suriano made 13
saves in her fifth career start as Maryland's defense forced eight turnovers. Edmondson also showed out on the defensive end, leading the Terps with two caused turnovers.

The Terps won 10-
of-20 draw controls as a team. Edmondson (five wins) and Kayla Gilmore (three wins) led the team from the draw circle.
