Two Grand Slams Power Terps to 17-4 Run-Rule Victory over Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, IN Grand slams by Elijah Lambros and Jacob Orr powered Maryland over Indiana, 17-4, in game two at Bart Kaufman Field on Saturday. This was the Terps' second consecutive game with a grand slam, now totaling nine on the season. Maryland had two grand slams in a game earlier this year against Western Carolina on Feb. 22, 2025. The Terps launched five home runs in the game, the fourth time with five home runs in a game this season.

Maryland is now 18-22 overall and 5-12 in Big Ten play. Indiana falls to 21-17 and 11-9 Big Ten. The win for the Terps will set up a rubber match in tomorrow's series finale.

Following an early Hoosiers run, Maryland's offense broke the game open with 14 runs across the first three innings. Lambros lifted a grand slam, which was his fourth homer of the season and 24th of his career.

Jacob Orr blasted his single-season career-high fourth home run of the season that was a grand slam in the third frame. The Terps reprized their early-season slam streak in this game. They had six grand slams in the first six games of the season and then two in the last two games. Lambros added his second home run of the day in the sixth inning, his first multi-homer day since April 30, 2023 against Indiana.

Chris Hacopian would also join the home run parade later in the game, hitting his sixth of the season in the top of the seventh inning. That ended an extended home run drought for Hacopian, with his last coming back on March 8 at home against UCLA.

Joey McMannis went a season-high five innings in his seventh start of the season, earning his first win of the campaign. He finished his outing allowing two runs on just three hits, while striking out four Hoosier batters. He was relieved by Ryan Van Buren in the bottom of the sixth. Van Buren would throw the final two innings of the in the Saturday victory

Lambros led the way for the Terps in the game. The senior outfielder finished with a perfect 3-for-3 day, hitting a pair of home runs and driving in five runs. Orr joined Lambros on the offensive end. He launched the other grand slam of the game for the Terps for his fourth home run of the season. Orr had five RBI in the game, tying his career-high for RBI in a single game. Calarco hit his 14th long ball of the season in the contest as a part of a two-hit, four RBI afternoon.
