Terps Advance To NCAA Regional Second Round, Topping West Virginia 196.250-195.325

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Maryland Gymnastics topped West Virginia 196.250-195.325   to earn a spot in the University Park NCAA Regional Second Round at Penn State's Rec Hall on Tuesday. This was Maryland's third-highest NCAA Regional score in school history. They won three of four team events, only trailing on the beam by 0.025. The win was Maryland's first head-to-head victory against West Virginia in program history.

The Terps will take on No. 1 LSU, No. 16 Arkansas and Michigan in session two of the Regional Semifinal on April 3 at 7 p.m. The top two teams from sessions one and two will advance to the Regional Final on April 5 at Rec Hall. 
  
The Terps posted their second-highest score in NCAA Regional history on bars (49.150). It rivals just their 49.275 in 2023. They achieved the mark by sweeping the top six places. Alexa Rothenbuescher and Sarah Saville tied for first in the event with 9.850 scores. The scores also tied for third highest individual scores in the event in the program's NCAA Regional history. 

On the beam, Maryland scored 49.100 — its Maryland's fifth-highest score in the event in NCAA Regional history. Maddie Komoroski tied for first in the event with a 9.900 score, which tied Maryland's NCAA Regional beam program record. Maryland was also clean and did not have a fall in the event. 

Maryland ended the meet strong on floor, scoring 49.250. Rhea LeBlanc tied the Maryland NCAA Regional floor record with a 9.900. Taylor Rech, Maddie Komoroski and Lauren Brendinger each scored 9.850 to tie for fifth all-time on Maryland's NCAA Regional floor list.

On vault, Maryland scored 48.850. Natalie Martin placed first amongst all competitors with a 9.850. It was the sophomore's seventh first-place finish this season.
