BLOOMINGTON, IN – Alex Calarco homered twice for the third time this season in Maryland baseball's loss to Indiana, 15-5, in its series finale at Bart Kaufman Field on Easter Sunday. Maryland is now 18-23 overall and 5-13 in Big Ten play. Indiana improved to 22-17 and 12-9 in the Big Ten.
The senior catcher finished the contest 3-for-4 and also recorded a single. He hit his first home run, a solo shot to center field in the fourth inning to get the Terps on the board. His second was a two-run blast in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3. This was Calarco's third game this season with multiple home runs.
Calarco also has back-to-back games with a home run, as he hit a three-run homer in Friday's contest. He now has 23 homers overall in his career between his two years at Northwestern and two years at Maryland, and 16 in 2025 — ranking tied for the 11th-most for a single season in program history. The senior leads the Terps in home runs and ranks second in the Big Ten with 57 RBIs.
Despite Calarco's second long ball tying the game, Indiana rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the inning to break open the game and lead 8-3.
Chris Hacopian later cut the lead Hoosiers' lead to three with a two-RBI single in the seventh, but they got the two runs back in the bottom of the inning and ended the game in the bottom of the eighth with another five-run inning.
Brayden Martin joined Calarco as Terps to record multiple hits. The sophomore went 2-for-4, reaching base three out of four times. He walked once, adding to his Big Ten-leading 42 walks drawn.
Jake Yeager earned his eighth start of the season. He pitched two innings, allowing two runs and striking out two batters.
