COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland continues its four-game home stand this weekend with a conference series against Nebraska. The Terrapins and Cornhuskers met during the 2024 campaign, with the Cornhuskers taking two of three in Lincoln. The two teams have met on 21 occasions, with the Terps holding the slight advantage with a 12-9 record.

The Terrapins enter the weekend after a run-rule victory at home over Towson. Eddie and Chris Hacopian both hit home runs in the game, the third-time that both brothers hit a home run in the same game. Jacob Orr added the third home run for the Terps, and had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. Brayden Ryan earned his third consecutive win in a midweek start, throwing a seven-inning complete game and striking out a season-high six batters. Brayden Martin drove in the run to secure the run-rule win, giving the Terps a 11-1 victory.
Year Two For Calarco
- Alex Calarco is having a career year in year two in College Park. Calarco continues to be one of the top hitters in the nation. Calarco ranks among some of the top hitters in multiple categories as the team reaches the midpoint of the season.
- Calarco's 16 home runs this season are the seventh-most in the nation and the third-most in the Big Ten. Calarco was the first player to reach double-digit home runs nationally. Calarco has 57 RBI on the year, which are tied for the eighth-most in the country.
- Calarco was named as one of 45 players to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List. The Golden Spikes Award is given annually to the best amateur baseball player in the country. Calarco is the first Maryland player to feature on the midseason watch list since Matt Shaw in 2023.
Alex Calarco continues to lead the Terrapins' offense in multiple categories and be one of the best hitters in the country. Calarco ranks in the top-10 in both home runs and RBI this season, while hitting for a .312 batting average.
McCoy's Brilliance On The Mound
- Redshirt sophomore Kyle McCoy has returned to the Terrapins' rotation in 2025 after missing the 2024 season due to injury. In his return, McCoy turned in an impressive performance so far and leads the Terps pitching staff in multiple categories. Through eight starts, McCoy has a 3-2 record with a 3.15 ERA and 59 strikeouts.
- McCoy tied his longest outing of his career against USF, going eight innings. The start for McCoy was his third consecutive with seven or more strikeouts. McCoy only allowed one earned run in the outing, with four outings this season where the lefty has allowed zero or one earned run.
- McCoy has been very effective in his first season back from injury. McCoy has had five or more strikeouts in seven of his last eight outings, holding a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.9:1. McCoy has thrown the most innings in the conference this season and has allowed just 15 walks across his 60 innings pitched this season.

Walk it Out
- The Terps' offense continues to be patient at the plate, leading the conference in walks with 252 and ranking ninth in the country. The Terps have four players who rank in the top 25 in the conference in walks this season.

Brayden Martin leads the bunch with 42 walks, the most in the Big Ten and ranking as the ninth-most nationally. That total for Martin is also one of the highest in single-season for a Terp, the ninth-most in program history.
- Checking in next is Alex Calarco. Calarco has 31 walks on the year, tied for the 16th-most in the Big Ten. Chris Hacopian follows with 30 walks this season, tied for the 18th in the conference. Closing out the list for Maryland are the pair of Elijah Lambros and Eddie Hacopian, who both are tied for 25th in the Big Ten with 26 walks.
Brayden Martin leads the Terps with 42 walks on the season. The Terps have a total of 252 walks on the season, which lead the Big Ten and rank ninth nationally.
Scouting The Cornhuskers
- Nebraska enters the weekend after falling at home to the visiting Kansas Jayhawks. Max Buettenback led the way offensively for the Cornhuskers, going 2-4 with a double. Gavin Blachowicz and Pryce Bendereach threw two innings of scoreless baseball on the mound.
- Offensively, Caden Brumbaugh leads the team with 48 hits on the season. The Huskers are led in batting average by Robby Bolin, who comes into play with a .322 average. Max Buettenback and Tyler Stone each lead the team with seven home runs, with Buettenback adding 22 RBI and Stone with 23. The RBI leader for Nebraska is Dylan Carey, who has 31 RBI on the campaign and has started in every game for the team.
- On the pitching side Will Walsh leads the staff with four wins this season. Walsh adds 43 strikeouts this season across 53.1 innings on the bump. Ty Horn leads the team in strikeouts this season with 46, a total that ranks as the 14th-most in the Big Ten. Casey Daiss is the team leader in ERA, heading into play with a 2.30 ERA over 13 appearances on the mound.
Stanley Bobb Baseball Player Development Center
- On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Maryland unveiled the new Stanley Bobb Baseball Performance Center. This will serve as the new indoor training facility for the Maryland Baseball program.
- This new state-of-the-art facility will allow baseball student-athletes the opportunity to train year round in a controlled environment, allowing them to continue to hone their skills regardless of the conditions.
- The 8,500 square foot facility will have defined spaces for both pitchers and hitters in a climate controlled environment. The facility features state-of-the-art technology.
- This project is one of the many as part of Maryland's Building Champions initiative, a campaign that enables investment in facility renovation and enhancement.
- The facility is named after the late Stanley Bobb, who pitched for the Terps from 1954-57. A member of the Greater Washington Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Bobb was the starting pitcher in the dedication game at then-Shipley Field in 1954.
