The Scarlet Knights (8-10) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Terps rallied to score four unanswered through the first and second quarters. Rutgers briefly retook the lead twice in the second frame before Maryland decisively took control late in the third and early in the fourth with four unanswered goals.

The first two goals secured hat tricks for Edmondson and LaPointe at the 1:50 and 24-second third quarter marks, respectively. The latter two in the fourth were by Chrissy Thomas (13:38) and Emma Abbazia (12:18), their first scores of the game to give the Terps a 13-8 lead. They led for the entire fourth quarter.

Thomas (2 goals & 1 assist), Jordyn Lipkin (two goals), Abbazia and Shelby Sullivan also scored goals for the Terps.

Sophomore goalie JJ Suriano made six saves between the pipes. Neve O'Ferrall (two), Chrissy Thomas (two), Maddy Sterling (two) and Fallon George all caused turnovers defensively.

Lexi Dupcak stepped up in the draw circle despite entering the game with just nine draw control wins in her career. She led Maryland with a career-high six wins. Edmondson (6 wins) and Hailey Russo (5 wins) also chipped in. As a team, the Terps won 21-of-11 draw controls.

Rutgers goalie Lexie Coldiron made 13 saves, giving her 196 stops on the season. She leads Division I women's lacrosse in saves this season. The graduate transfer kept the Scarlet Knights in the game despite the Terps boasting an 30-17 shots on goal advantage.

  Reese's Take
"Just proud of how we just never gave up, we kept going and I've loved what I've seen," Reese said. "I've said that before about this team this season. We've been in some holes before, but these guys keep fighting. We're young, and that's been the talk of this group a lot this year. But at the same time, they're tough, they fight and everyone steps out when their name is called. I couldn't be more proud of their effort tonight."
