Porter Homers Twice In Loss To Georgetown, 11-8

TYSONS, VA  – Hollis Porter homered twice in a game for the second time this season as Maryland baseball was defeated by Georgetown, 11-8, in a season series rubber match at Capital One Park on Tuesday evening. Maryland is now 20-26 entering its weekend series at Penn State.

Porter crushed his second homer of the day in the top of the eighth. It was a three-run blast that cut the Hoyas' lead to 9-6. The blast was Porter's team-leading 18th of the season, tying him for the eighth most in a single season in program history. He's tied with Benjamin Cowles (2021) and Paul Schager (1986).
The redshirt sophomore from Pearl River Community College also hit a two-run homer to the opposite field in the second. He finished his outing going 2-for-4 and racking up five RBIs and two runs.

Georgetown (15-30) scored four runs in the bottom of the first and led throughout the contest. Porter's first homer briefly cut the Hoyas' lead in half at 4-2. However, they responded with a three-spot in the bottom of the inning and added insurance runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Brayden Martin (2-for-5) and Jacob Orr each drove in runs in the ninth, but the Terps couldn't extend the game.
Orr drove in two runs in the game. Chris Hacopian and Aden Hill (2-for-4) joined Porter and Martin as Terps to record multiple hits. Hacopoian went 3-for-4 with a double while adding a run scored.

Brayden Ryan started the game on the mound. Logan Hastings, Andrew Johnson, and Devin Milberg all made relief appearances out of the bullpen. Hastings and Milberg each struck out four batters.
