Terps Finish With Best NCAA Regional Performance, Score 196.825

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Maryland Gymnastics posted its best NCAA Regional Performance in program history, scoring 196.825 and placing fourth in session two of the NCAA Pennsylvania Regional at Penn State's Rec Hall on Thursday. The score bettered Maryland's previous NCAA Regional best of 196.675 in 2023. 

The Terps competed against No. 1 LSU, No. 16 Arkansas and Michigan. LSU emerged as the session winner and advanced alongside Arkansas to the next round with session one participants No. 8 Michigan State and No. 9 Kentucky. Overall, the Terps placed sixth among sessions one and two. 

On floor, Maryland's second rotation, the Terps scored 49.325 as a team. The mark was their highest score in the event in NCAA regional program history. Alexa Rothenbuescher tied the NCAA Regional program record with an individual score of 9.900. She tied Maryland Athletics Hall of Famer Jill Fisher. Maryland's top five scores in the event were all above 9.850.  

The Terps also set a new NCAA regional best score on vault, scoring 49.225. It topped their 49.175 at the 2022 NCAA Raleigh Regional. Taylor Rech (9.900) and Maggie Murphy (9.875) set career highs on vault. Rech's mark tied for third-best in an NCAA Regional.  

On the balance beam, Maryland's first rotation, Madeline Komoroski scored a career-best 9.950 to break the program record for the highest score in NCAA Regional history. She tied LSU's Aleah Finnegan as the highest scorer in the event. Natalie Martin also scored a 9.900, tying for the second. As a team, the Terps scored 49.075, earning its fifth-highest NCAA Regional beam score in program history. 

Maryland's final rotation on bars resulted in the second-best NCAA Regional team score in program history (49.200). Sarah Saville recorded a career-high 9.900 routine, which also set an NCAA Regional program record.
