Trio Of Hat Tricks Lead No. 7 Terps Past Arizona State, 18-14

TEMPE, AZ – Three Terps scored hat tricks as No. 7 Maryland women's lacrosse defeated Arizona State, 18-14, at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium on Thursday. The Terps are now 8-3 heading into game two of their west coast swing against No. 18 USC.
 
Neither team led by more than three scores until Arizona State (8-5) netted four straight goals to lead 11-8 at the 11:24 third-quarter mark. However, Maryland went on to score nine unanswered goals through the third and fourth quarters to take the lead and put the game away. 

Kori Edmondson led the Terps from the midfield. She recorded a four-goal hat trick and won five draw controls. The junior has eight hat tricks this season and 25 for her career. She leads the Terps with 33 goals this season. This was also her fourth straight game with four goals. Edmondson is the first player to accomplish the feat since Hannah Leubecker 
in 2024. 

Maisy Clevenger also recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals. It was the sophomore's second this season. Freshman Devin Livingston (three goals) rounded out hat trick scorers, earning the first of her career. It was also the first multi-goal performance of her career. Overall, the Terps have scored 18 hat tricks as a team this season through 11 games. 
  
Kate Sites (two goals & an assist), Lauren LaPointe (two goals & and an assist) and Emma Abbazia (two goals) recorded multiple goals. Kayla Gilmore (one goal & and two assists) also joined the scoring column. Chrissy Thomas scored multiple points with three assists. She leads the Terps with 19 assists this season. 
  
Goalie JJ Suriano and Julia Ward split time between the pipes. Suriano played the majority of the contest, making seven saves. Maddy Sterling, Annabella Schafer and Sophie Halus each caused a turnover defensively.
 

Breaking Down The Action
  • Maryland led 6-4 at the end of the first. Maisy Clevenger and Devin Livingston each netted two goals. The other two were scored by Kori Edmondson and Kate Sites.
  • Arizona State led 9-8 at halftime. Edmondson and Site recorded tallies in the quarter, as four different Terps had multiple goals in the game. Teagan Ng led the Sun Devils with four goals. 
  • The Sun Devils took an 8-11 lead at 11:24 in the third, which was the first three-goal lead of the game. However, the Terps later went on a five-goal unanswered run. Edmondson and Livingston reached hat tricks and Emma Abbazia, Lauren LaPointe and Jordyn Lipkin entered the scoring column.  
  • The Terps scored nine unanswered goals through the third and fourth quarter to put the game away.

  • Kori Edmondson (four goals) recorded multiple points for the 34 times in her career. She has scored multiple goals 33 times.
  • Maisy Clevenger (three goals) had her 14th multi-point game of her career. It was her seventh game with multiple goals.
  • Devin Livingston (three goals) recorded her third career multi-point game. It was her first career game with multiple goals. 
  • Kate Sites (two goals & one assist) posted the 11th multi-point game of her career. All are multi-goal games. 
  • Lauren LaPointe (two goals & one assist) notched the fourth multi-point game of her career. It was her third career game with multiple goals. 
  • Kayla Gilmore (one goal & two assists) recorded her fourth career multi-point game. It was her first with multiple assists. 
  • Chrissy Thomas (three assists) had the 31st multi-point game of her career. It was her 21st game with multiple assists.
