Where We've Been
  • No. 6-seeded and ranked Maryland women's lacrosse advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round as it defeated Fairfield, 16-7, in the first round.Lauren LaPointe led the Terps offensively with a career-high five goals. She netted a hat trick in the first half alone. It was her seventh career hat trick and sixth of the season. Edmondson followed with three goals and two assists. She has 31 career hat tricks, including a team-leading 14 this season.
  • Kayla Gimore led the Terps with a career-high 11 wins from the draw circle while matched up against Fairfield's single-season record holder for draw controls, Brynn Donnelly. She reached a career-high in the first half alone, posting 10 wins. As a team, Maryland won 15-of-27 draws. Maryland improved to 29-2 in NCAA Tournament games played in College Park under Head Coach Cathy Reese. This is also its 35th consecutive postseason appearance. Overall, the Terps lead the nation with 40 NCAA Tournament appearances and 82 wins. 
  • Maryland women's lacrosse secured its 35th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and will host the first and second rounds in College Park as the No. 6 seed.
  • The Terps' 35 consecutive appearances (1990-2025, minus 2020 due to COVID-19) is the longest streak in the country. Overall, the Terps have won 14 NCAA Championships, the most of any program in college women's lacrosse history. Maryland has won four of the last 10 NCAA Championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2019) and has made the NCAA Semifinals 12 times under head coach Cathy Reese (2009-19, 2022).
  • No. 2 seed and No. 7-ranked Maryland was defeated by No. 1 seed and No. 3-ranked Northwestern, 8-7, in the Big Ten Tournament title game. The Terps scored four of the game's first five goals and used an incredible defensive performance to sustain a lead until the 2:38 mark of the fourth. A game after matching her career-high in saves, Suriano set a career-high 18 saves between the pipes. She tied for the most in Big Ten Tournament history, matching Penn State's Taylor Suplee in 2019. Suriano's save total was also the most by a Maryland goalie since Megan Taylor's 20 saves vs. Florida on March 29, 2017. She had 11 stops in the first half alone and was the main catalyst in Northwestern going just 0-of-9 from the free-position line. 
  • Penn topped #21 Army, 16-6 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Catherine Berkery tallied a career-high eight points including the 100th of her career. Goalkeeper Orly Sedransk was a force in her cage, tying her career high with 14 saves in the game. Maggie Bankowski won eight draw controls against the Black Knights including the 100th of her collegiate career. The Ivy League named senior Brandt Midfielder of the Year, senior Gorriaran Defender of the Year, and freshman Sedransk Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Year.
  •  This marks the 31st meeting between Maryland and Penn. The Terps have historically controlled the series, leading 26-4 over the past 45 years. The two teams first met in 1980, with Maryland earning a 5-4 victory.

Edmondson and Gilmore Earn All-Big Ten Honors 
  • Kori Edmondson and Kayla Gilmore earn Big Ten Player of the Year Honors, as announced by the Big Ten Conference. Edmondson was named the 2025 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, while Gilmore earned 2025 Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.
  • Edmondson, who unanimously earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team, has led the Terrapins' offense with a standout season. She has tallied 65 points, including 54 goals, and was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Week five times. She also earned Midseason First Team All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse and a spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team.
  • Gilmore, a freshman midfielder, made an immediate impact for the Terps. She recorded 14 goals, nine assists, and played a key role in Maryland's efforts in the draw circle with 73 draw controls. Gilmore earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors, was named to the inaugural All-Freshman Team, and was ranked the No. 7 freshman nationally by Inside Lacrosse. A three-sport athlete in high school and the all-time scoring leader at William Floyd in basketball, Gilmore was a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American and an IL Women five-star recruit before arriving in College Park.

Thomas and Edmondson Moving Up The Charts
  • With three assists in the 2025 season opener, Chrissy Thomas became just the 66th player in Maryland women's lacrosse history to reach the 100-point mark for her career. Thomas currently has 155 points, which ranks her 47th on the all-time list.
  • Kori Edmondson recorded her 100th career goal against No. 3 Northwestern. Edmondson now ranks 46th all-time on Maryland's career point list with 155 career points.

  • On February 14, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced the 2025 IWLCA Hall of Fame, which included Maryland head coach Cathy Reese.
  • Reese has guided Maryland to five national championships (2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), 11 Final Fours, and 20 regular-season and tournament championships across the ACC and Big Ten. She is recognized as a four-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year (2010, 2014, 2015, 2019) and a 12-time Conference Coach of the Year.
  • Reese joins former Maryland head coaches Cindy Timchal (Class of 2017) and Suzanne Tyler (Class of 2018) in the IWLCA Hall of Fame.

  • Head Coach Cathy Reese is in her 19th season at the helm of Maryland women's lacrosse. The winningest coach in program history, Reese is 346-52 (.869) as head coach and has led the Terps to five National Championships, 12 Final Fours, and 22 Conference Championships.
  • Reese is the fifth all-time winningest active head coach and the sixth-winningest coach of all-time in Division 1 women's lacrosse at 376-81 (.822). Former Maryland head coach Cindy Timchal is the all-time winningest women's lacrosse coach with 580 wins.
  • Reese has the highest winning percentage of any current Maryland head coach as a Terrapin head coach.

  • No. 7 Maryland defeated No. 8 Johns Hopkins, 13-11, in its regular season finale on Saturday. This was Maryland's 800th program win, the most by any women's college lacrosse program.
  • Maryland is the winningest program in women's lacrosse, with a 803-167-3 record all-time. The Terps have won 82.7 percent of their games, the highest winning percentage of all time.
