
Riegger Finishes at NCAA Regionals

AMHERST, VA -- Sophomore Emil Riegger of the Maryland men's golf team finished tied for 14th at NCAA Regionals at the Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, Va.
Riegger tied for 14th overall with a score of 209 (74-66-69), which was -1 overall. The Amherst regional was played over four days, Sunday through Wednesday, due to inclement weather in the area. Riegger picked up 12 birdies and an eagle in the 54 holes.
Riegger transferred to Maryland from Drake before this season. He carried a scoring average of 70.6 this season. He picked up four top 10 finishes and eight top 20 finishes in nine events. Riegger tied for fifth at the Big Ten Championships and was named to the All-Big Ten Championship Team.
Riegger is the first Terrapin to earn an NCAA Regionals bid since Peter Knade and David Kocher competed in the 2018 NCAA Regionals.
