McDonald’s All-American, Five-Star Guard Darius Adams Signs With Men’s Basketball

COLLEGE PARK, MD – A consensus top 25 recruit and McDonald's All-American, Darius Adams has officially signed with the Maryland men's basketball program as announced by head coach Buzz Williams today. Adams, a 6-foot-5 guard from Manchester, NJ, is the fourth-highest ranked recruit in program history behind Diamond Stone (No. 8), Derik Queen (No. 12), and Jalen Smith (No. 15).

"We're thrilled to welcome Darius to the Maryland Basketball family. He's a highly skilled player who can impact winning from day one with his competitiveness, unselfishness, and feel for the game," said Williams. "Darius has developed through two of the nation's premier programs in La Lumiere and the PSA Cardinals, and he comes from an incredibly supportive and successful basketball family. His character and work ethic—fueled by great parents—will make him a tremendous addition to our program."

The five-star guard was ranked No. 15 overall in the class of 2025 by Rivals.com, No. 18 by On3.com, and No. 23 by 247Sports.com. In addition to being a McDonald's All-American, Adams was also selected for the Jordan Brand Classic.

Adams spent his final two years of high school at La Lumiere in La Porte, Indiana. Before attending La Lumiere, Adams spent his first two prep years at Manasquan High School in New Jersey where he scored 1,079 points. He averaged 20.4 points as a sophomore leading Manasquan to the NJSIAA title and earning NJ.com Third Team All-State, First Team All-Group 2 and Shore Conference Player of the Year honors. During his time at Manasquan, he was also named the Shore Sports Network Freshman of the Year after averaging 14.3 points.

Adams also held offers from Connecticut, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgetown, Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina and N.C. State among others.

Overall, he is the 10th signee for Maryland joining David Coit (Kansas), Guillermo Del Pino (Cordoba, Spain), Andre Mills (Texas A&M), Pharrel Payne (Texas A&M), Myles Rice (Indiana), Elijah Saunders (Virginia), George Turkson, Jr. (Texas A&M), Solomon Washington (Texas A&M), and Isaiah Watts (Washington State).

Maryland is coming off a 27-9 campaign in 2024-25 which saw the Terps reach the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2016. In Big Ten play, Maryland finished second in the final standings with a 14-6 league record and reached the Big Ten Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2016.
