
Smith Finishes As Runner-Up In U23 Nationals

GENEVA, OH -- Maryland All-American wrestler Jaxon Smith finished as the 86 kg runner-up in the U23 Freestyle Nationals at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Smith reached the final round winning five matches. He won two by technical fall (13-0 and 11-0), two by decision (6-0 and 4-2) and also won his first competition by fall at 1:03.
Five other Terps competed in the U23 Nationals. Dario Lemus posted a 4-2 record at 65 kg and AJ Rodrigues also went 4-2 at 74 kg.
Michael Pizzuto posted a 3-2 mark at 65 kg. Mekhi Neal went 1-2 at 74 kg and Jack Darrah also went 1-2, at 92 kg.
