COLLEGE PARK, MD – Leah Crouse, Emma DeBerdine, and current Terp Josie Hollamon competed this past weekend for Team USA as the U.S. Women's National Team faced New Zealand in the International Series. The trio helped Team USA sweep the No. 10-ranked New Zealand 3–0 across two games.
Following the series, U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach David Passmore and his staff announced the 20-athlete traveling roster for the 2025 Pan American Cup (PAC), set for July 24 to August 3 in Montevideo, Uruguay. The tournament winner will qualify for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup.
"The group has really developed during this recent six-week period together and has put together a strong string of results," said Passmore. "That said, it made selection extremely difficult, and those who didn't make the squad can consider themselves very unlucky. This selected group brings a lot of speed and flair, and we've worked hard on our defensive game to prepare for the tough matches ahead. We'll need to be at our best to keep progressing, but the team is playing with great confidence now."
Crouse, DeBerdine, and Hollamon are among the 20 athletes chosen to represent the United States.
Josie Hollamon, a sophomore defender, was a key anchor of Maryland's defense this past season. The Delmar, Delaware native earned All-American honors for the first time in her career after an outstanding year. She was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and started every game, shutting down top offensive threats across the country. Offensively, she contributed five goals and five assists, and was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team.
Crouse was a standout during her graduate transfer season at Maryland. She started all 22 games for the Terps, recording 25 points from 10 goals and five assists. She earned NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic First Team and All-Big Ten Second Team honors and led the team with five game-winning goals.
Graduate student Emma DeBerdine wrapped up a decorated Maryland career with a spot on the NFHCA All-American Third Team and her third All-Big Ten First Team selection. After competing for Team USA in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she returned for her final year of eligibility and started 92 of her 93 career games. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native finished her career with 74 points on 23 goals and 28 assists. A three-time NFHCA All-American, DeBerdine adds this selection to her long list of collegiate accolades.
The No. 14-ranked Eagles will compete in Pool B at the Pan American Cup, alongside No. 12 Chile, No. 29 Mexico, and No. 51 Trinidad and Tobago. Pool A includes No. 2 Argentina, No. 19 Canada, No. 22 Uruguay, and No. 53 Paraguay.
Team USA opens PAC play against Mexico, a team they last defeated 5–0 at the 2019 Pan American Games. Their second matchup is against Chile, who beat them 2–1 in the bronze medal game at the FIH Hockey Nations Cup this past March. They will conclude pool play against Trinidad and Tobago, whom they dominated 15–0 at the 2023 Pan American Games.
