COLLEGE PARK, MDÂ --Â The Maryland men's soccer team will take on No. 25 Georgetown in Washington DC at Shaw Field on Monday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and the match will air on ESPN+.
The Terrapins traveled to Winston-Salem, NC to take on No. 6 Wake Forest on Thursday night, but the match was canceled at halftime due to lightning in the area. Maryland led 1-0 at the half with the goal scored by Sadam Masereka. Later in the week, the Terps will host Bucknell for their home opener Friday evening in front of The Crew at Ludwig Field with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.Â
Series History - Georgetown
- Separated by only nine miles, Maryland and Georgetown have been battling on the soccer field since 1952 where the Terps took the first 22 matchups in the rivalry. Since then, the Hoyas have narrowed the gap, winning six of the last nine matchups.
- Coach Cirovski holds a 8-6-2 record vs. the Hoyas in his Maryland tenure, while Coach Wiese holds a 6-4-2 record vs. the Terps in his Georgetown tenure.

BIG TEN PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Three Terps were named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list, the league announced Tuesday. The players are Luca Costabile, Leon Koehl, and Sadam Masereka.
- Senior captain Luca Costabile headlines the back row for the Terps in 2025. In the two 2024 NCAA Tournament games for the Terps, Costabile netted one goal and added two assists.Â
- Junior Leon Koehl will look to build off his terrific 2024 season where he was named First Team All-Big Ten after netting seven penalty kick goals for the Terps, a mark that led the NCAA.Â
- Sadam Masereka, coming off a season with four goals and two assists, will look to cap off his collegiate career in a big way in 2025.
Welcome the NEWCOMERS
- The Terrapins have welcomed 11 newcomers, a combination of freshmen and transfers that will bolster the roster for the 2025 season.Â
- Maryland picked up two senior transfers from UMBC: Joseph Picotto and Lasse Kelp. Kelp will look to add to the defensive line in 2025 while Picotto will play all over the field at the midfield position.
- The Terps brought in seven incoming freshmen: Luke Burdett, Mateo Caride, Rocket Ritarita, Henry Bernstein, Alexander Milosevic, Emil Nymann, and Casey Price.Â
- The final two transfers for Maryland are sophomore Stephane Njike and senior Tristen Rose. Njike joins the Terrapins after a year at LIU, whom the Terps defeated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Rose joins Maryland for his senior season after spending the previous few seasons at the University of Charleston. Rose was named a 2024 Division II Second Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. He helped lead Charleston to the 2024 Division II National Championship and three consecutive Mountain East Conference Championships.
- Recently signed defender Farouk Cisse will look to make an immediate impact on the 2025 season after spending the last few seasons playing club with Borussia Dortmund.
