COLLEGE PARK, MD. – Maryland football defensive lineman
Sidney Stewart has been named a 2025 Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Stewart finished his first collegiate season with 7.0 sacks, leading the team and ranking sixth in the Big Ten. He was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and chosen by On3 as a True Freshman All-American.
Stewart, who played in all 12 games with 11 starts during his rookie season, ranked first among all Power 4 freshmen in sacks and ranked second overall among all FBS freshmen in total sacks. He recorded at least a partial sack in eight of 12 games.
Stewart also set the Maryland school record for tackles for loss in a season by a freshman with 10.5, surpassing the previous record set in 1979. He led the team and ranked tied for 12th in the Big Ten in TFLs.
