
Four Maryland Field Hockey Alumni Represent USA at 3 Nations Tournament

(Jan. 20) The United States opened the tournament with a dramatic 2-1 come from behind victory over host No. 9 New Zealand, sealed by a late goal in the 57th minute. Emma DeBerdine sparked the rally with a key deflection off a long ball in the 37th minute that led to the equalizer, while Hope Rose delivered a crucial defensive stop that created a scoring opportunity as the U.S. pressed for the win.
(Jan. 22) The U.S. continued its momentum with a dominant 4-0 shutout of Japan, controlling play on both ends of the field. The Americans outshot Japan 7-1 and held a decisive edge in penalty corners, 8-2.
(Jan. 23) Against New Zealand A, the No. 11 U.S. Women's National Team earned a 4-1 win. After equalizing on a penalty stroke in the 37th minute, the U.S. took control in the second half. Hope Rose intercepted a key pass to help set up a goal, and DeBerdine added to the scoring as the Americans pulled away.
(Jan. 24) Closing the tournament, the No. 11 United States will finish the tournament at 10 pm against No. 9 New Zealand.
