
Wide Receiver Ejani Shakir Joins Maryland Football

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Maryland football program officially announced the addition of wide receiver Ejani Shakir on Tuesday.
Shakir arrives in College Park after a pair of highly-productive seasons at Independence Community College, where he developed into one of the top offensive weapons in the conference.
During his sophomore campaign, Shakir broke out with 43 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns across 10 games. He also made a major impact in the return game, compiling 397 kickoff and punt return yards while averaging 25.2 yards per kickoff return over 13 opportunities. His performance earned him First Team All-KJCCC honors at wide receiver and Second Team All-KJCCC recognition as a returner.
A highly regarded recruit out of high school, Shakir was a four-star prospect in the 2023 signing class and ranked as the No. 25 wide receiver nationally by 247Sports.
Originally from Pennsauken, New Jersey, Shakir starred at Pennsauken High School before transferring to Winslow Township High School for his senior season. Across his prep career, he appeared in 35 games, hauling in 159 receptions for 2,514 yards and 26 touchdowns while also contributing extensively as a return specialist.
Shakir has two years of eligibility remaining.
