Lavon Johnson has officially rejoined the Maryland football program for his senior season, it was announced on Thursday.
Johnson, a 6-2, 310-pound defensive lineman from Allentown, Pennsylvania, spent the 2025 season at Texas after beginning his career at Maryland.
Johnson saw action in six games for the Longhorns, making his debut against Sam Houston State and recording two tackles. He also appeared in the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma and logged two tackles at Kentucky.
During his first stint as a Terp (2023-24), Johnson appeared in 18 games and totaled 19 tackles (14 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack. In 2024, he recorded 14 tackles (10 solo) and a half tackle for loss in eight games, missing four contests due to injury. He returned in mid-November and delivered a career-high six solo tackles against Iowa before adding three tackles at Penn State the following week.
As a true freshman in 2023, Johnson played in six games, tallying five tackles (four solo) and his first career sack.
Johnson has one year of eligibility remaining.
