Maryland Bats Explode in 21-4 Series-Clinching Rout of Wagner

Six different Terps drove in multiple RBIs as Maryland earned its second series win of 2026.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Ryan Costello drove in five RBIs as Maryland dismantled Wagner, 21-4, to clinch the weekend series win on Saturday afternoon at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium. Four different Terps recorded three or more RBIs as Maryland moved to 6-4 on the season and 4-0 at home. The Terps scored in all but the fourth inning of Saturday's smackdown. Maryland pushed a season-high 21 runs across as the Terps ripped a season-high 15 hits off six different Wagner arms.

Maryland jumped on the Seahawks early with nine runs in the first two innings. Paul Jones II hit his second homer of the season in a four-run first inning before Costello's grand slam highlighted a five-run second. Costello had five RBIs in his first two plate appearances as the Terps gave their pitching staff plenty of early run support.  Jordan Crosland (2-2, four RBI, two runs, two BB) ripped Maryland's third homer of the afternoon out to left field in the fifth inning. His two-run shot — and first of the season — put the Terps ahead 12-2 as they sealed their second series win of 2026. Ty Kaunas picked up three RBIs to continue his hot start to his freshman season.  Evan Smith made his first start of the season and picked up a pair of strikeouts in his two-inning outing. Smith was the first of four Maryland arms used on Saturday. Andrew Koshy threw two scoreless and hitless frames in the win.
