No. 14 Terps Conclude Regular Season With Loss to No. 8 Michigan

Oluchi Okananwa scored 19 points in Maryland’s final regular season contest.

ANN ARBOR, MI — No. 14 Maryland wrapped up its 2025-26 regular season with a tough 87-69 road loss to No. 8 Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The Terps finish their regular-season campaign with a 23-7 (11-7 Big Ten) record and turn their sights to the postseason. 

Oluchi Okananwa grabbed her eighth straight game with 14+ points in her 19-point, four-rebound Saturday. She went 7-of-7 on free throws on a day where Maryland shot 11-of-11 from the charity stripe. Okananwa has scored 15+ points 19 times this season to establish herself as one of the Big Ten's premier players. Yarden Garzon moved into fifth all-time in Maryland single-season three-pointers with her 14-point, four-rebound performance. She hit four triples on Saturday, bringing her Big Ten-leading season total up to 86.  Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu recorded 15 points and grabbed five rebounds in her return to the lineup. She became the first of four Terps to score in double figures with her 10-point first half. Addi Mack pitched in 12 points in her 19th double-digit game of her freshman season.

Michigan got 28 points from Olivia Olson as the Wolverines moved to 14-1 at home this season. Maryland wrapped up its regular season and turns its focus to the 2026 Allstate Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament next week ahead of the NCAA Tournament.

How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
  • Garzon got the scoring started with a three-pointer. 
  • Okananwa got her day going with an early layup.
  • Ozzy-Momodu returned to the lineup and sank back-to-back baskets to make it a 11-9 Michigan lead midway through the first quarter. 
  • Garzon's second triple cut the Wolverine lead to 18-14 in the final minutes.
  • Michigan led 22-16 after 10 minutes of play. 
2nd Quarter:
  • Maryland kept Michigan off the board for the first 2:15 of the quarters.
  • Kyndal Walker netted the Terps' first points of the quarter to get on the board.
  • Michigan hit a three-pointer to take a 31-20 lead four minutes in.
  • Garzon hit a third three of the first half to creep closer to history. 
  • Ozzy-Momodu became the first Terp in double figures late in the first half. 
  • Michigan led 46-31 at the half.
3rd Quarter:
  • Addi Mack hit a three for Maryland's first points of the quarter. 
  • Garzon's fourth triple put her in double figures.
  • Okananwa became the third Terp in double figures early in the frame. 
  • Mack's second three-pointer of the quarter kept Maryland in the contest.
  • Okananwa got the Terps to 50 points late in the third quarter.
  • Mack reached double figures during a 6-0 Maryland run.
  • Michigan led 67-52 after three.
4th Quarter:
  • Walker scored back-to-back-to-back buckets to get Maryland's scoring started in the final frame. 
  • Okananwa knocked down a pair of free throws midway through. 
  • Michigan closed out its 87-69 win.

  • Okananwa (19 points) scored in double figures for the 26th time this season and the 62nd time in her career.
  • Garzon (14 points) moved closer to history with her 22nd double-digit game of the season and the 86th of her career.
