COLLEGE PARK, MD -- It's a Black Out of the XFINITY Center as Maryland hosts Ohio State on Thursday night. The game will tip at 8:30 PM and will be televised on FS1. Legendary Voice of the Terps
Johnny Holliday will call the action for the Maryland Sports Radio Network alongside Chris Knoche and Walt Williams. Fans will also be treated to a special halftime performance from Red Panda.
This will be the second of four home games in February for the Terps. Most importantly, after a tough stretch, the Terps will only face one more current ranked AP Top 25 team in the eight-game stretch at No. 5 Nebraska to end the month of February. Five of those games will also come against teams in the bottom half of the conference standings.
Series History
- The series with Ohio State is one of the closest among Big Ten rivals as it's tied up at 12-12.
- The Buckeyes won last season's meeting in Columbus on a last second three by Bruce Thornton.
- At home, Maryland is 9-2 all-time and have won three straight at the XFINITY Center.
Diggy, Diggy, Diggy Can't You See ...
- Diggy Coit has proven to be a walking bucket or as head coach Buzz Williams has said - "put up videogame numbers." Twice this season, he has scored 40-or-more points including a career-high and XFINITY Center all-time record 43 points against Penn State. That total was just one shy of matching Ernie Graham's 44 points against NC State in 1978 as the program's single-game scoring record.
- Coit also scored 41 against Mount St. Mary's this season. He is only the second player in program history to score 40-or-more points in a season alongside Gene Shue (1952-53).
- As part of his 43 points against Penn State, Coit also tied the program and XFINITY Center records for single-game three pointers (alongside Mike Jones vs. UMKC, 12/13/06). His 15 three-point field goal attempts against Penn State tied Maryland's single-game record alongside Greivis Vasquez who was in attendance.
- Among active NCAA players, Coit is just the third to have multiple 40-point games joining Treysen Eaglestaff (2) of North Dakota and Dior Johnson (2) of Tarleton State. He is the only Big Ten player to have multiple 40-point games.
- Since 1996-97, he is one of 14 major conference players to have multiple 40 point games in a single season and the first since 2019-20.
- Coit is the first Big Ten player since Purdue's Carsen Edwards (3 in 2018-19) with multiple 40-point games in a season.

Solo Making An Impact
- After missing the first eight games of the season due to injury, Solomon Washington has given a veteran presence to the line-up since his return at the start of December. The senior is averaging 10.0 points and 8.8 rebounds in his 13 games played.
- Washington made his Maryland debut on Dec. 2 against Wagner where he had 10 points and six rebounds.
- He had his first double-double as a Terp with 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Old Dominion. That marked the second straight game he had double-figure rebounds (12 vs. Virginia).
- His other double-doubles this year including 17 points/12 rebounds against Oregon and 13 points/10 rebounds at No. 11 Illinois.
- Washington is looking to average a double-double for a season for the 23rd time in program history dating back to 1954-55.
Palpable Buzz
- Buzz Williams was named head coach at Maryland on April 2, 2025 after re-building Texas A&M into a program that reached three consecutive NCAA Tournaments. For his career, he seeking to become one of just three NCAA Division I head coaches to post 100 career wins at four different institutions – Maryland Hall of Fame Coach Lefty Driesell and Steve Alford.
- Williams is one of 12 active Division I head coaches to win at least one NCAA Tournament game at three different programs. He's coached in 23 NCAA Tournament games, winning 12, both of which rank among the Top 25 among all Division I head coaches.
- In 2024-25, Buzz Williams earned his 100th win at Texas A&M with a 77-73 victory over Creighton (11/27). He joined Tennessee's Rick Barnes as the only head coaches to win 100+ games at three power conference schools.
