COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Chad Wells, Director of Football Technology for Maryland Football, has been named the 2025–26 Big Ten Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, as announced by the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA).
Wells was selected for the honor by his peers across the conference and is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year Award, which will be presented at the CSVA annual banquet on May 20, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.
The Bob Matey Award recognizes a video coordinator who exemplifies innovation, determination, perseverance and technical skill, honoring the legacy of the late Bob Matey, longtime Texas A&M video coordinator.
Now entering his ninth season with the Terrapins, Wells has been a key contributor to Maryland Football's technological operations since joining the program in 2018.
Wells began his career in football video at the University of Southern California in 2010, spending two seasons as a video assistant with the Trojans before moving to the NFL, where he served in the same role with the San Francisco 49ers from 2012–14. He returned to the collegiate ranks in 2015 as Director of Football Video at the University of Illinois prior to his arrival in College Park.
